PCM opens many doors

Most students in Class 11 and 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths believe those three subjects lead to one place: engineering. They lead to at least eight. This two-and-a-half minute film walks through each door, names the exam that opens it, and ends on the one question that decides how many of them stay open to you.

The through-line is simple. You do not have to choose a door in Class 11. You have to build a strong PCM — because JEE Main is the hardest test these three subjects face, and preparing for it makes every other door easier rather than harder.

The eight doors

Engineering. JEE Main, JEE Advanced, BITSAT and the state exams — leading to the IITs, NITs, IIITs, BITS and hundreds of colleges across India.

Defence. The NDA exam opens the National Defence Academy and the Indian Naval Academy. Less widely known: the Navy and the Army also use your JEE Main score.

Science and research. IAT, NEST, ISI and CMI open the IISERs, NISER, ISI, IISc and IIST — ISRO's own institute. Many of these carry scholarships, so what you can do matters more than what you can pay.

College degrees through CUET. Delhi University, BHU, JNU and more than 250 universities. CUET's science paper is your Class 12 syllabus, so the work you are already doing counts twice.

Architecture through NATA. Merchant navy through IMU-CET. Pilot, where PCM is a requirement rather than an option. Actuarial science through ACET. Four different futures resting on the same three subjects.
